Inclusion

Our diversity, inclusion and social mobility goals

At Babcock, we are creating a safe and welcoming workspace, effectively connecting and engaging all our people to be a company that values diversity. A place where everyone can be themselves. And we’re taking action to create a workplace our people deserve.

We have evolved the way we conduct community outreach activities to encourage more youngsters to take up STEM subjects to help address diversity and disparity as well as improve social mobility.

We have set ourselves the target of increasing the number of women in our senior leadership team from 21% to 30% by March 2025. We are closing the gender gap across our organisation year-on-year. And that’s not just about ensuring equal work is rewarded with equal pay, or recruiting more women into STEM roles. It’s also about creating an environment with facilities and role models that inspire and support women, offering access to a wider range of flexible working options and empowering every individual to flourish and shape their own future as a leader or technical specialist within the business.

Our organisation now more accurately represents the communities and counties where we operate. We are fully behind the growth of employee networks, including, BAME, Pride and Multifaith.

Driven by

Innovation

As our customer requirements evolve, we’re looking at new ways of innovating, sharing knowledge and harnessing existing expertise. Babcock today is driven by the vision of developing a one organisation approach that shares innovation, talent and capability across our entire Group.

From advanced data analytics and asset digitisation to cutting-edge engineering and manufacturing techniques, technology and innovation has a crucial role to play in every aspect of our work. So, wherever you join us and in whatever role, you’ll be working with that technology, developing the skills you need to take our customers, our business and your own career forward.

Commited to

Sustainability

Sustainability is an integral part of our business. We are committed to minimising the impact of our operations on the environment, focusing on the safety of our people and making a positive difference to the communities in which we operate. This includes promoting STEM subjects to younger children and setting a Net Zero target for harmful emissions by 2040.

That commitment extends to being a member of the Sustainability Alliance, a collaborative group of key organisations that work with Defra to promote, share and implement sustainability best practice,

Our new Babcock Group-wide Environment, Social and Governance strategy has a profound influence on everything we do. As we work to reduce the impact of our recruitment marketing and selection processes, this is something you’ll experience as a graduate before you even join us! And when you do, you’ll have a part to play in it too. You could help to reduce your own energy consumption, engage with suppliers with commercial integrity or build closer relationships with the community.
