About the programme

Some of our projects span multiple markets, multiple locations and multiple clients. That takes some clever coordination. But on our two-year Business Operations Management programme (in our Marine-Defence (Bristol) business unit, it’s a four-year programme), you’ll learn exactly how we do it. You’ll see how we break the complex down into clear steps and ensure everything happens when it should.

Where you'll be based

See below to find out more about the areas of our business that are offering places on our Business Operations Management programme for Autumn 2022. You can experience placements across our UK business, as well as some of our international business areas. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

In the civil sector, our highly trained pilots and medical staff provide aerial emergency medical services, aerial search and rescue operations and aerial firefighting missions, supported by our in-house engineering teams and operational control centres. In the defence sector, our skilled engineers, ground support staff and training instructors deliver military flying training, air station support and integrated engineering services to armies, navies and air forces in Europe.

All graduates in Aviation relocate every six months, so you need to be ready and willing to move throughout your programme.

Our Land sector provides vital support for civil and military customers’ large-scale fleets of vehicles and equipment. And we deliver high quality technical training to upskill our clients’ workforce. Whilst we have locations throughout the UK, graduates tend to be based in our Greater London, Midlands or Scottish locations, though you will need to be ready and willing to move to other sites throughout your programme.

We operate in challenging and often highly regulated environments, providing engineering services that are critical, complex and often bespoke. Our graduates have the opportunity to work across multiple industries in the sector, gaining valuable insight into how we help different customers to overcome their particular challenges.

Our Marine – Defence business, based in Bristol, forms a critical part of Babcock’s Marine organisation. Working across a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, our 1,500 strong team operate from a number of sites across the UK and internationally ensuring our global customer portfolio is always supported.

Your home base will be Bristol, but some of your placements may be at other Marine sector locations.

Our business in Plymouth supports the UK Royal Navy in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and sustaining critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

Depending on your programme your home base could be Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. However, some of your placements may be at other Nuclear sector locations.
