With annual revenue of over £4bn in 2021, it’s fair to say our finances need just as much expertise as our projects. Over three years, you’ll get to grips with the complexities of company-based accounting and financial management. What’s more, we’ll cover the costs and support you along the way to get your prestigious Chartered Management Accountant (‘CIMA’) qualification.

Accountancy and Finance at Babcock

You’ll gain the broadest exposure to company-based accounting and financial management. This will span both management accounting (with both overhead and project experience) and business tax accounting. You’ll work on projects across many different sectors, which will give you the kind of experiences and insights that are very hard to come by.

Every step of the way, you will be mentored towards Chartered Management Accountants status. We’ll support you to gain Associate of Chartered Management Accountants (ACMA) status, offered by CIMA. You’ll learn either through a tuition provider or via distance learning.

The company uses Kaplan to support our finance graduates through their CIMA studies and you will complete this utilising the Level 7 Accounting/Taxation Professional – CIMA Master’s Degree apprenticeship standard.

What you'll need

  • A 2:1 (Hons) degree in Accountancy and Finance, Economics, Science or Engineering
  • To be able to satisfy the MOD’s, and our customer’s security requirements (you may need to complete a medical assessment).

What you'll get

In a phrase: Chartered Management Accountant status. We’ll pay for you to get your qualification with CIMA and assign you a mentor to help you get there – with a competitive starting salary of £30.6k. In return, we expect you to attain chartership.

When you’re part of the team at Babcock, we think it’s only right that you’re properly rewarded for the contribution you make and the hard work you put in. That’s why, in addition to a highly competitive salary, you can look forward to generous pension and employee share schemes, and a whole host of other flexible benefits. These include things like access to our healthcare cash plan, Wellbeing Centre and discounts on everything from gym membership and travel to retail, dining and entertainment. You’ll also have the chance to get involved in our STEM outreach and volunteering activities, which our graduates find incredibly rewarding in all sorts of other ways.

Where you'll be based

See the list below to find out more about the areas of our business that are offering places on our Accountancy and Finance programme for Autumn 2022. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.
